What is a hotel guest web app?
What a guest-facing web experience does, and where it fits alongside reception rather than replacing it.
A guest web app is a browser-based experience, typically reached through a link, QR code or booking confirmation, that lets a guest handle simple requests themselves instead of routing everything through reception: things like viewing stay details, making a request, or ordering from an on-site outlet.
Web app vs native app
A native app requires a guest to download and install something for a stay that might last one or two nights — friction most guests will not accept. A web app opens instantly in a browser from a link or QR code, with no install step, which is why most hospitality guest experiences are built this way rather than as a native app.
What moves from reception to self-service
The workflows that benefit most from self-service are usually low-complexity, high-frequency requests: checking booking details, simple in-stay requests, and ordering from a connected outlet. It is not about removing reception, it is about giving guests a direct option for the requests that do not need a conversation.
How MindTab approaches this
